If you are interested in migration and media issues and want to gain experience in any or both of these fields, you might be eligible to spend three months interning with a leading organization!
Within the framework of the project “Migrants in the Spotlight: Training and Capacity Building for Media Representatives and Students”, financed by the European Commission, the International Organization for Migration and its partners are recruiting 24 interns for a three months traineeship each.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants should be entry-level professionals or students of journalism/social studies/political science or a related field, who are immigrants[1] or come from a family of immigrants. Those applicants who demonstrate a strong interest in migration issues but do not possess an immigration background will be also considered; however, preference will be given to the first group.
Applying for an internship

The cover letter should specify the proposed period and dates of the internship; however, the commencement date cannot be later than 1st of September 2011.

Employment conditions
Duration:
Internships will last three months and the contract cannot be renewed.
Notice:
Either party may terminate internship contracts before the expiration date, giving one week's notice in writing.
Insurance:
Interns are required to present proof that they are covered against occupational and non-occupational injury and illness.
Monthly Sustenance Allowance:
A 500 euro monthly allowance will be provided to cover the participants’ basic living expenses.[2]
[1] By immigrants we refer to third-country nationals legally residing in the EU Member States. Evidence regarding your residence status will be requested.
[2] Please note in some countries the internship stipend is not tax-free.
